Marie-Christine Vergiat is a French politician and since 2009 a Member of the European Parliament.
She studied law in France and engaged in the French Human Rights League.
These aspects are to be seen in her work as a Member of Parliament - shes a Member in the Subcommittee on Human rights and of the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries and the Arab Maghreb Union. In this context, she has played an important role in vehemently criticizing the EU's response during the starting revolutions in some Arab States in 2011.
As a Substitute Member in the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) she pressed for an inquiry on the revelations of Edward Snowden and in this video she states why she'll fight for strengthening digital rights in the next legislature period.
